Shepreth……by train

On the last Wednesday of the school year Year 3, Mrs Sendall and Mrs Dingley headed off to Stevenage train station for our trip to Shepreth Wildlife Centre.  We had packed our sandwiches, applied our sun screen and were looking forward to a great day with the animals.  We were not disappointed.

We learnt about the work the Centre does to help with the conservation of a number of endangered species and (most of us) enjoyed handling  the different creatures – the land snail was a bit slimy but the cockroach, millipede, various snakes, rats etc were great.

We listened to the tiger keeper telling us about these amazing animals and some of us glimpsed one of the tigers having a swim to cool down in the hot weatherphoto 13 photo 15 photo 14

When our day was done we walked back to Shepreth train station for our journey home.

Fairlands Valley Park – Y4 & Y6 Activity Day

On Wednesday 20th July as an end of year trip Year 4 and Year 6 pupils went to Fairlands Valley Park in Stevenage for an activity day.

We started the day with rock climbing and bouldering.

Followed by lots of fun on the ‘High Ropes’ course.

After lunch saw the start of our water based activities. Fun and games on the ‘ring’ boats, ensured everyone (including Mr Suckling) got wet.

The day ended with a raft building session. We were impressed as both teams built a raft that floated…a vast improvement on previous years! However even with ‘sea worthy’ rafts the children all – somehow ended up in the water!
