Attached to this post is an information flyer about a free girls only rugby event. It is mainly for older children (even adults). However, younger children (school years 2-6) are welcome to attend and play some tag/touch rugby on the day.
The event is free and aimed at promoting the key values of rugby, teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship. Trophies will be awarded to people who uphold these values during the event.
You will also be able to purchase food at the BAR or BBQ.
If you would like any more information, please contact Royston rugby club via their email address

Royston Rugby Club Ladies & Girls 7’s Festival May 7th 2017
On Monday 24th April, KS1 and KS2 children had the opportunity to have a go playing lacrosse.
Lacrosse is a team game, originally played by North American Indians, in which the ball is thrown, carried and caught with a long-handled stick. The Stick has a curved L-shaped or triangular frame at one end with a piece of shallow netting in the angle. Players have to pass a ball amongst their team mates and try and score a goal by throwing the ball into a net.
The children really enjoyed the session and learnt some new skills in a sport that they have never experienced before. As a result, next year (during the Autumn term) Mr Clark will be returning to Ardeley to continue teaching lacrosse.
It has already been a fantastic year for Ardeley in terms of sport. We have managed to participate in several sporting events and competitions and have shown improvement from the previous year. The children have gained invaluable knowledge from their successes and defeats which has fuelled a fire within the children to compete and continue to develop their skills.
Now the sun is starting to shine we have a wide range of sporting events to look forward to.
Monday 24th April – lacrosse taster session for KS1 and KS2
Friday 28th April – year 3 and 4 football festival in Buntingford (letters to be sent home soon so please keep a look out).
Monday 8th May – whole school circus skills experience (the children will be working together in teams to try a range of circus skills).
Thursday 11th May – cross country event at Edwinstree (parents are more than welcome to attend and cheer on the school and your child).
Tuesday 23rd May – year 3 and 4 tennis competition.
Friday 7th July – gifted and talented athletics event, which this year is being hosted by Roger de Clare C of E primary school in Puckeridge (parents are welcome to attend the event).
As well as the list of competitions above, don’t forget to put in your diaries the Ardeley Sports afternoon on Wednesday 12th July. Fingers crossed for the same glorious weather we had last year!
